Confirmation is the process through which young
people learn about the Word, as seen through the eyes of Martin Luther.
Youth ages 12-13 are required to attend two years of classes in which they study
the Bible, memorize Scripture, write assignments, and study Luther's Catechism.
At the end of the classes, they are able to become communicant members of the
congregation. There is an evening of questioning where the confirmands are
able to publicly show what they have accomplished during confirmation classes.
Pastor Voelker leads the classes, which are held on Thursday nights. The
youth also attend the service during GLC Nights,
taking notes on the sermon. The parents of the confirmands are also asked
to help out with classes and attend the services during
GLC Nights as well.
