GYROS - Gethsemane Youth Reaching Out in Service - is the name of the Youth
Group at Gethsemane. The group is open to all youth in confirmation
classes (Grades 7 & 8) and high school. The group is a stepping stone
between elementary school, high school, and adulthood - tackling issues specific
to youth.
The name GYROS is also significant since it is the Greek word for circle.
The circle is often
used as a symbol to signify perfection, completeness. It reflects
the fact that we are striving to make God's love complete in us, by
loving God and others (1 John 4:12). We are required to be perfect, just
as God is perfect (Mat 5:48), and indeed we are presented to God as blameless
because of the sacrifice of His perfect Son, Jesus Christ (1 Cor 1:8).
